Drive this world famous road course
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to drive on one of the most famous road courses in the world? Well you don’t have to wonder any more. Join us and drive the track with fellow Audi enthusiasts under controlled conditions behind a pace car. If you are an NEQ track veteran you already know what it’s like to drive the Glen at speed. But what’s it like at street speeds with your family in the car?
Every year Watkins Glen International (The Glen) holds this opening day fundraiser to kick off the racing season. The price of admission is a $20 donation to the Watkins Glen R.A.C.E Foundation plus a small administrative fee. The mission of R.A.C.E. (Racing And Community Enrichment) is to meet the needs of local underserved populations with a focus on youth-oriented support.
With COVID restrictions relaxed at the track, participants will make their own way to The Glen for a 10:00AM track time on Sunday April 10 where we will line up near the garages with other clubs and be escorted via pace car for 3 laps of this world-famous race course. Tickets for lapping are $20.00 for clubs and must be purchased on line prior to arriving at the track using discount code wgispecial Tickets are $30.00 at the gate on the day of the event. After the the three laps with the club if you want to go again just hop in the line with the public pay 30 bucks and have at it.
We are looking for a place to regroup for lunch and maybe taste some wine. Details will follow and will be pay as you go at the establishmnt
Or just spend the rest of the day exploring the Watkins Glen area and enjoy the natural wonder of the area or visit the many local wineries. One activity is to drive the old 6 mile road course on the streets and back roads around Wakins Glen. Maps will be available.
The schedule for the day will be...
9:15 to 9:45 Arrive at the track. Ebter via gate 2 and follow directions to the garage area where the clubs line up
10:00AM ON TRACK
10:30 to 12:30 get in additional laps with the public or spend some time in the Village or walk the Glen
1:00 meet at lunch venue TBD
