  • Have Fun driving your own car
           …on a private racetrack!
  • Learn in a mature, supportive and enjoyable environment...
... with a strong emphasis on Safety!
  • Improve your driving skills...
... while learning about your car's capabilities!
  • Join a diverse group of friendly individuals who embrace performance driving...
... and really understand, appreciate, and enjoy their Audi automobiles!

What is It?

This High-Performance Driving School is an exciting, fun, and educational two or three days spent with friendly people at a terrific private racetrack. You will learn from and with other Audi owners and club members, forge new friendships, and make lasting memories. Your improved driving skills will enhance your daily driving experience. You will learn about your car and its capabilities in a mature, controlled, and supportive environment which is safer than experimenting on the public road!

Should I Do This?

People will say  you shouldn't...    you couldn't...    you can't...    you won't...
So it will feel so good when you go home after experiencing the thrill of this weekend and tell them... I DID IT!

DO IT with Audi Club!

  • Drive your OWN car! You will learn in your own car throughout the event. Club instructors help you improve your driving skills in a structured learning environment.
  • Don’t have an Audi (yet)? -- No Problem! All makes and models of coupes and sedans in excellent mechanical condition are welcome at Audi Club SoCal driving schools – we also accept many convertibles and select performance SUVs, too.
  • We train you! At Audi Club SoCal, we don't just "drop you into the deep end"! Beginners will spend the morning of the first day learning about vehicle dynamics in the classroom and with car control exercises. Then you and your personal instructor will join the more experienced drivers on the track for the remainder of the weekend.
  • We focus on Education for all levels of experience. Audi Club driver education is tailored to each driver’s skill level using online webinars, live classroom, in-car instruction, and remote instruction where appropriate.
  • Safety is not negotiable! Separate run groups are established to allow students to be on track with drivers of similar experience. This event is not a race, a racing school, or practice for racing. Passing is allowed only under controlled conditions on designated sections of the course. Drivers with documented previous experience will be placed by the club in a run group appropriate for their skill level and their car's capabilities.

Affordable: The registration fee (see below for details) represents an incredible bargain! Your full-weekend registration includes everything necessary for two days of fun with your car, including:

  • On-track driving with instruction by experienced and trained Audi Club instructors.
  • Lunch at the track both days, Friday Meet&Greet with light Supper, the Saturday Banquet, and a souvenir Event Shirt.
  • First Time Beginners also get sophisticated online training, car control exercises, and a free motorsport helmet rental.
  • The optional Friday HPDE Experienced Driver Day's open pit lane format provides tons of practice time for Audi Club’s solo-qualified intermediate & advanced drivers and our instructors.

Event requirements

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Course Configuration - we are planning on driving the #1 Star Mazda configuration on all three days.
    • Friday Experienced Driver Day: Star Mazda Counter-Clockwise.
    • Saturday and Sunday Driving School: Star Mazda Clockwise.
      • This is preliminary information and could change. We had hoped to drive Buttonwillow's new The Circuit track but it is still not paved and they don't have a paving starting date.
  • Passing - To promote safety, passing in all run groups is by permission-only in designated passing zones. The Point-By passing protocol is used at Audi Club SoCal HPDE events.
    • NEW: We are considering relaxed passing rules for Advanced and Instructor groups. As always, safety considerations will inform this decision. More information will be provided to advanced drivers closer to the date of the event.
  • Convertibles and SUV - We remind you that Audi Club North America allows many models of convertible cars and selected sporty SUV/CUV cars (for example Q3, Q5, SQ5) at our driving school. Yes there are a few restrictions, so see the details on the Audi Club website.
  • Friday Experienced Driver Day - Our Friday optional practice day features an "Open Pit Lane" format. Friday is limited to previously soloed C-intermediates, D-advanced, and our Instructors. Formal Audi Club driving instruction is not provided on Friday, but participants are encouraged to make their own arrangements to drive or ride with our instructors.
  • Not driving Friday? Show up early and you and your guest can get track familiarization rides with one of our instructors! You will need to be at the track Friday evening anyway for check-in and mandatory driver meetings, so we encourage you to arrive early on Friday to observe the driving action and get rides on track.

YOUR REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDES ALL THIS! (See the Registration Form for this year's fees)

  • Student -  The student registration fee for the Saturday/Sunday Audi Club SoCal High Performance Driver School includes:
    • Training - First Time Beginners get car control exercises, driving theory classrooms, free online driving webinar, and a free helmet rental. All students are eligible for on-track instruction with trained Audi Club instructors, feedback sessions, and discounted professional online study materials.
    • Meals - Your registration fee includes Friday evening's meet-and-greet with heavy appetizers, Saturday lunch, Saturday night gala Banquet Dinner, and Sunday lunch. The Tower Cafe is open every day for no-host breakfast.
    • Swag - Every full weekend registration (Sat/Sun) includes a souvenir event shirt. First Time Beginners get a complimentary embroidered Audi Club hat.
    • The Club will assign Student-Instructor pairings, which will be emailed to you the week of the event so you can begin a conversation with your instructor prior to arriving at the event (if not pre-solo qualified).
  • One Day - Single day Saturday or Sunday registrations are available for students with prior experience and include lunch. Banquet tickets, shirts and hats are available separately. Not for beginners.
  • Friday - Additional fee for the optional Friday Experienced Driver Day. Includes lunch and more open pit lane track driving time than you or your tires can probably handle!

Racers and Time Trialers: please note that our event is NOT suitable for race car test-and-tune. All Audi Club HPDE rules will be in effect all three days, including: passing with permission only; no in-car timing may be visible to the driver; and only an Audi Club designated Instructor may be the second occupant in your car.

  • Instructor - Weekend Instructor rate includes dedicated instructor Run Groups, all meals, and swag. Our trained and experienced Audi Club instructors volunteer their time and expertise and incur significant expense to teach at our driving school, so they qualify for a discounted weekend registration fee.

Early Bird - Please help us plan by registering early. We don’t charge your credit card until a month prior to the event, and we offer a reasonable refund policy for timely cancelations. Early full-weekend student registrations save $25. Early Bird cutoff is September 30th. Cutoff for ordering shirts is four weeks prior to the event, so register early!

Late registration - is highly discouraged and will be subject to an additional fee. Please register prior to November.
