ACNW University of Quattro '21

Evergreen Speedway

About this event

Audi Club Northwest presents University of Quattro Driver Skills and Autocross at the Monroe Fairgrounds/Evergreen Speedway on Sunday, February 28, 2021! We are thrilled to have long-time Club supporter Audi Seattle as the sponsor for this event!

Do you have a new car and want to learn what it feels like to drive it in a challenging course design? Or have you ever really learned how to drive the one you have? Drivers with any vehicle brand are welcome to attend our events so please invite your friends to come have fun together.

University of Quattro is a place to push the envelope of your vehicle’s capabilities in a controlled environment with fantastic club instructors to work with you on becoming a better driver. This program has something for 15 year-old drivers with a learners permit just starting their road experience and for the 50+ year-old that has always wondered if they really do know everything there is to know about driving.

Audi Club Northwest is focused on providing training experiences for you as the driver, with the most important goal of your car making it home safely every night. The University of Quattro program also qualifies you to attend high-speed instructed lapping events later this year, such as Son of Quattrofest on March 21st at The Ridge Motorsports Park (RMP) and Verloren Gehen on April 10-11 at Oregon Raceway Park (ORP).

Please note that due to the ongoing pandemic we have modified track day operations to ensure we maintain social distancing in addition to other protocols in order to provide a safe environment for everyone at the event. Driver Skills and Autocross instruction will be done with instructor debriefs outside of the car.

Of special note: PLEASE make sure and read the requirements on the next page. You will be expected to bring items that are not usually required for our normal events.  In addition, you will be expected to comply with the requirements that will be provided in documentation prior to the event.  It is imperative that you read and follow these requirements so we can conduct a safe and successful event.  This is a difficult time, and ACNW is going to be very responsive to both the state and the track requirements regarding the spread of COVID-19.  We all must take responsibility for making this a low risk event.

The event will start with a short 'ground school' meeting via Zoom on the Wednesday prior to the event.  Sunday morning starts with Driver Skills, an array of exercises designed to teach new skills and expand on familiar ones in a controlled but exhilarating way. For many, these exercises are the most fun part of the day!

Once you have experienced what you and your car can do as part of the exercises, we'll turn the pavement into an autocross course. An autocross is a small course, created with an assortment of cones, which will test your new skills in a fun way. The course is timed, so you'll be able to see your improvement as you gain experience and develop the strategies to better your next run. This is where the fun REALLY begins. Expect to go home with sore cheeks as your smiling muscles will be the most tested of all.

Learning to be better drivers is what Audi Club Northwest is all about. To get an idea of what the drills and exercises that make up our driving schools look like, check out this quick overview video captured at an event from a few years back.

An Audi car is not required for any portion of University of Quattro so feel free to invite friends and co-workers to this event. Audi Club North America membership is not required (although it is encouraged) for this event.

Event requirements

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

ACNW has developed and put into practice a plan to prevent the spread of COVID-19, working with Evergreen Speedway and Washington state (please read the state’s additional guidance for outdoor recreation in phase 1 and phase 2 here).  What follows is a compilation of relevant requirements for University of Quattro 2021.

If you do not follow these requirements, you will be asked to leave the event with no refund:

  • If you are sick or display symptoms of COVID-19, STAY HOME.  If you have had recent contact with any persons exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or confirmed to have COVID-19, STAY HOME. You will be provided a full refund if you cannot make it to the event for these reasons.
    • COVID- 19 symptoms include fever, muscle pain, cough, headache, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, chills, or repeated shaking with chills.
    • CDC COVID-19 Symptoms/Symptoms of Coronavirus Guidelines are here.
  • All participants, staff, and event organizers may be required to undergo a health screen check prior to entering the facility at the direction of the track venue (Evergreen Speedway) or event organizer (ACNW).  This screening may involve a temperature check and a symptom and exposure questionnaire.  Screening results will remain confidential.  Participants, staff, or event organizers who exhibit signs of acute respiratory illness and/or have a fever will be sent home.  Participants, staff, and event organizers who have been exposed to someone COVID-19 positive or themselves have been tested positive must remain home for two weeks minimum and until symptom free.
  • Only participating drivers and staff are allowed at this event.  No friends or family members - with the exception of non-driving parents of teen drivers.
  • You must bring your valid driver’s license.
  • You must print out and sign the Safety Inspection Checklist from at home and bring to the event.
  • You must bring your own personal protection equipment (PPE).  This includes a cloth or disposable mask that covers your nose and mouth, and sanitizing sprays/wipes.  You must wear your mask unless you are in your car or you are shagging cones and separated from others by at least 10 feet.
  • Please bring your own water and snacks.  We will be providing lunch.
  • You must stay close to your vehicle unless you are shagging cones.  You will be permitted to queue for the check-in desk in the morning, standing at least 6 ft apart from other people, and at the restrooms.  You must always stay at least 6 ft from people who are not part of your immediate household.
  • You should wash your hands often, for 20 seconds at a time, particularly after interacting with public surfaces.  Approved hand sanitizer (e.g. 60%+ alcohol content) may be used instead.  CDC hand-washing and hand sanitizer guidelines are here.
  • No passengers are allowed in cars.
  • Grandstands and viewing areas are closed.
  • You will be required to attend an online 'ground school' meeting via Zoom at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24th.  Attendance will be taken.  The Zoom link and instructions will be sent out via separate email to confirmed attendees.
  • The morning and afternoon driver meetings will be conducted via a megaphone.  Please drop what you are doing and pay attention to the announcements.
  • Depending on the event, access to the facility and time spent at the facility at the conclusion of the event will be limited. Participants are encouraged to leave as quickly as possible at the end of the event.  In some cases, when multiple events may be scheduled, participants are asked to leave as quickly as possible after their last run or lap. This will help facilitate a smooth transition for the next event.
  • Reporting: After the event, any participant, staff, or event organizer who tests positive for COVID-19 is required to contact the event master so contact tracing and notification can be done. Individuals who contact the event master shall remain confidential.
  • Complaints: Any complaints or issues regarding anyone, activity, or lack of protocol at the event shall be brought to the attention of the COVID-19 Coordinator or designee as soon as possible. Track officials reserve the right to revoke facility privileges or cancel the event of protocols are not being followed.

By registering for this event, you are accepting compliance with the guidelines provided by Evergreen Speedway and by ACNW.  Anyone operating outside of those guidelines will be asked to leave.  NO REFUND will be issued if you are asked to leave.

Release and Waiver of Liability:

Everyone must sign the Release and Waiver of Liability and Communicable Disease Spectator and Participant Release forms online for Audi Club Northwest’s insurance coverage prior to coming to the facility.  You can initiate the process here. The full text of this Release and Waiver of Liability is on the last page of the registration form, and can also be found on the ACNW' Driving School Materials page, under Adult Waiver.  The waiver for minors (16-18 years old) can be found here. We do not have an online process for minor waivers, so the legal guardian of the minor must print out, sign, and bring the waiver to the event.

Safety Inspection Policy:

Generally, ACNW requires two signatures on your Vehicle Safety Inspection Checklist form, but for this event, University of Quattro, you are only required to sign on the Driver Signature line. Your signature on the form certifies that your car and you are fit for high performance driving. It is however ACNW’s expectation that your car will be inspected per the areas of emphasis on the Safety Inspection Checklist with each item checked-off in the Pre-event Inspection column. This can be something you complete yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. View the Safety Inspection Checklist here. For the full safety inspection policy and procedure, click here.
